What is Anxiety? How it effects you, and Common Anxiety Disorders

Anxiety is a mental health disorder that is characterised by persistent, excess worrying or fear. It can affect a person's ability to concentrate, sleep and carry out day to day tasks. Anxiety is a very common mental health and on average affects one in four people at some stage in their life.

People with anxiety can experience symptoms of more than one type of anxiety condition. They may experience depression as well.

There are different types of anxiety disorders.

These include:

- Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
- Social Phobia
- Panic Disorder
- Specific Phobia
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
